Little lanky longdog seeks partner/s in crime for adventure

Haboob was found wandering on his own. He wasn’t microchipped when he came to us, so we don’t know his history. We believe he’s a saluki cross and around a year old. He’s roughly the size of a large whippet/small greyhound, and we don’t think he’s going to get a lot bigger than he is now.

Haboob is a stunning looking boy, he is very affectionate, quite vocal, and will steal your heart before you know it. He is happiest snuggled up at your side or on your lap on the sofa after a busy day, and he loves to give boops with his velvet-soft snoot. Don’t let that sweet little face fool you though; he’s quite the handful; a cheeky young rogue full of puppy mischief! One thing for sure, you’ll never have a dull moment if you welcome him into your home!

Haboob currently lives with another lurcher and enjoys having a friend to snuggle up to and run about with in the garden. Haboob has made some good friends and gets on well with all his doggy pals around the park. He can be very excitable and jumpy when he meets a new dog, however he does settle down with his new friends once the walk gets underway. This makes us believe that he’d enjoy living with another dog following proper introductions. He does get upset when he’s left so he would probably also appreciate the company of another dog when you go out.

Haboob’s not cat or small animal friendly, as he has a very strong prey drive. He’s very clean in the house and will let you know when he needs to go out to toilet. He’s also quite well behaved indoors, apart from the odd zoomies, and he sleeps right through the night without any fuss or accidents.

Haboob is still a puppy, and currently gets over-excited when he sees people and dogs and does carry on if they don’t stop and come over to meet him, bouncing around and vocalising his frustration. Haboob’s currently working on his outside manners with our behaviourist and his foster mum and making good progress. Because of this he would benefit from an owner who’s had some experience with big daft puppies and/or sighthounds, and who is willing to continue working on his training and socialisation.

Due to Haboob’s breed, age, and high energy levels, he needs a home where he can get plenty of exercise every day. He would best suit someone who’s active and want a companion to join them out and about, on hikes and exploring the great outdoors. He’d happily join you running about on adventures all day and cuddle up with you on the sofa in the evening.

All this energy and excitability does mean Haboob isn’t suitable for a home with children, or where children are frequent visitors; he’s quite strong and bouncy and may accidentally knock small people over.
